Make it for Jo Public

Over the years my mother has given me some great pearls of wisdom: Don’t run with scissors; keep your eye on the ball; don’t play with matches; etc, etc. But it was some professional advice I received from her that’s had a big influence on 2Large2Email.
When I explained what we were aiming to do, she simply said “make it so Jo Public wants to use it.” She’s right you know. This formed the basis of how we designed the site. It’s easy to use, clean and simple, and effective. Hopefully Jo Publics all over the world will think so too, and actually find the site pleasant to use. It certainly fills a gap that companies all over the world have struggled with for years.

Everything you need, nothing you don’t.

Sometimes it can be hard to decide what goes into a product. How do you choose what features must be in the product, what could be in the product, and what certainly should not be in the product?

Our philosophy is to offer easy-to-use, effective software. That means we don’t want to be Microsoft, or Adobe. We just want to offer the essential services and do it efficiently. That means no rubbish features, no bloat and no learning curve.

We had a pretty rewarding meeting one day when we decided what features would be included with 2Large2Email. We wrote absolutely every feature we could think of on the whiteboard, and then, one by when rubbed out the ones we considered “non essential.” Gone were things like text formatting, time stamps, manual authentication, and customized toolbars. We were left with a lean, mean file sending machine! Sometimes software developers include periphery features simply because “they’ve always been there” and not because they’re of any great value to the people using the product. 2Large2Email gives the power back to the people!

Getting better all the time!

We have a small group of talented people working on the 2Large2Email project. We have some developers and a marketing guru. Everyone in the team has the same goal: to deliver professional software that makes sending files easy.
The designers and developers have been working long hours to get 2Large2Email up and running. It’s fascinating to be able to watch the project come together. It’s no longer lines and numbers on a notepad – we have actual pages and wonderful colours, fonts and text! And, the technical widgetty bits on the back-end are coming together too! It’s very exciting and we’re confident we’ll have 2Large2Email released to the general public by September 2008. Check back for further information!
